HMMA Team Members Purchase Nearly $5,000 Worth of School Supplies to Fill 175 Backpacks
Montgomery, Ala., – On Friday, August 17, 2012, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) Team Members donated 175 backpacks filled with school supplies to help Montgomery Public School System students start the new school year with many of the tools they’ll need for a year of learning.
During the first three weeks of August, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama Team Members descended on local retail stores to purchase nearly $5,000 worth of school supplies. Team Members picked up backpacks purchased by HMMA and filled them with a recommended list of supplies. The filled backpacks were then presented to representatives from the Montgomery Public School System and Partners in Education who will coordinate the distribution of the school supplies to local students.
This was HMMA’s first Pack-A-Backpack campaign. Each backpack contains: one ream of copy paper; two packs of No. 2 pencils; one pencil sharpener with holder; two packs of 16-count crayons; two glue sticks; two bottles of glue; one box of gallon Ziploc bags; one pack of index cards; two bottles of pump hand sanitizer and two boxes of baby wipes.
