HYUNDAI AND GREEN EGGS & HAM
MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 5, 2009 – During the week of March 2 – 6, 2008, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC (HMMA) helped celebrate the one hundred and fifth birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to children and adults around the world as “Dr. Seuss.” First graders from area schools visited the Hyundai Alabama plant for a special reading of “Green Eggs and Ham,” and other popular stories by the famous illustrator and author.
“HMMA Team Members reading to area students is just one more opportunity for us to show our commitment—both to education and to our community,” said David Colmans, specialist – diversity.
Sheron Rose, manager – diversity, added, “The ability to read and comprehend is essential to a person’s ability to succeed in life. By making reading fun for the kids, we hope to spark a lifelong interest that will greatly enhance and enrich their lives.”
At 12 noon each day, the first-grade students from four area elementary schools experienced the Hyundai Visitor Center, hear a Dr. Seuss story read by an HMMA Team Member and be presented a souvenir from the plant.
