MONTGOMERY, Ala., December 6, 2010 – Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and its team members donated more than $195,000 in cash contributions during the 2010 United Way campaign, a twenty-five percent increase over the previous year’s campaign. Y.D. Lim, president and CEO, Rick Neal, vice president and general counsel and Ashley Frye, vic president – production for HMMA recently presented this year’s contribution to Guy David, River Region United Way campaign chair and Russ Dunman, executive director – River Region United Way. This is the fifth year HMMA has conducted a United Way drive.

“I am extremely proud of the response that our Team Members gave to this year’s United Way Campaign.  They blew the top off of our goal of $115,000. The final total of $140,000 just proves that HMMA Team Members are willing to share some of their good fortune with those who may be less fortunate in the River Region,” said Neal. “I couldn’t be more proud of our Team Members for their sharing and caring attitude. This has been an especially tough year for many folks and our Team Members feel honored to give back to the communities and people who are so important to us all.”

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama also provided a company contribution of $55,000 to bring the total donation to United Ways of Alabama to $195,000. As a community partner for more than 8 years, HMMA is dedicated to helping the River Region United Way make a profound difference in individuals’ lives and in the quality of life we all enjoy in the Montgomery area. HMMA has a number of community outreach activities that engage team members through volunteerism and philanthropy in the community.

“On behalf of our 48 United Way agencies, I would like to thank Hyundai for their generous gift to this year’s campaign.  It is heartwarming and inspiring to see a company like Hyundai take their responsibility to our community so seriously,” said Guy Davis, River Region United Way Campaign Chairman 2010. “This gift will go a long way toward helping our agencies serve hurting people in the River Region.”

“We are blessed to have the generous financial commitment and volunteer support of HMMA team members,” said Frye. “The caring spirit of the Hyundai family ensures our community’s social services safety net will remain strong for those who count on United Way, especially during this year of troubling economic conditions.”
